About Melissa Micnhimer

I hold a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University and have experience working at a Christian non-profit counseling center. There, I supported individuals with a range of diagnoses, including anxiety, trauma, depression, ADD, child behavioral issues, stress, eating disorders, self-esteem challenges, and grief. Additionally, I have worked in two private practices providing neurofeedback services. I am trained in EMDR and am currently receiving supervision hours to obtain certification. I also have 2 certifications in neurofeedback: BCN and QEEG-DL .

My top priority in counseling is to establish a trusting and respectful relationship between us. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and valued. This foundation of safety and trust is essential for effective counseling and personal growth.

Fun facts: I’m married and have two dogs and two cats. We joyfully adopted our baby boy earlier this year (2024)! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, playing board games, and indoor rock climbing.

Services

I offer individual counseling services for adults dealing with trauma, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and perfectionism. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment for my clients. I utilize an integrative approach tailored to each individual's needs, incorporating techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapy.

In addition to counseling, I provide neurofeedback services for clients of all ages. You can find more information in the "About Neurofeedback" tab.

For fellow clinicians interested in neurofeedback, I offer consultations to assist with setting up equipment and learning how to use it effectively. I can also provide QEEG analysis and create training protocols for your practice. I have extensive knowledge of Brainmaster and Cygnet (ILF) systems.
